ICC 1100 Standard for Spray-applied Polyurethane Foam Plastic

The first edition of ICC 1100-2019 was ANSI Approved as an American National Standard on October 10, 2019.

In order to reflect current industry practices, the Code Council has opened the revision cycle to develop the second edition of ICC 1100.  The ICC Board of Directors appointed a committee at the July 2023 meeting.

The first public teleconference meeting of the committee was held on October 24, 2023 to begin development of the next edition of the standard.  Meeting minutes pending committee approval are posted below.  The most recent meeting of the committee was held on November 7, 2023.  The next meeting will be announced after the work groups created by the committee have completed the initial revisions.  For anyone interested in attending, please contact the staff secretariat listed below for the invite information.

Construction codes have requirements for thermal resistance of insulating materials but currently include limited material standards for certain types of insulating materials. The purpose for ICC 1100 is to develop a performance standard based upon existing ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria and related documents for spray-applied foam plastic insulation for use by industry and inclusion in construction codes.

ICC IS-FPI Foam Plastic Insulation Standard Committee

The ICC Board of Directors appoints the committee members in the development of IS-FPI standards as American National Standards to establish the minimum physical and performance properties as well as application requirements for spray applied foam plastic insulations. A code change proposal in the 2018 Group A Cycle was submitted in January 2018 to include the standard for reference in the 2021 I-codes.

The Code Council adheres to openness and transparency in our Standards development process. All ICC Standards committee meetings are open to the public. Any interested party can participate in committee meetings and can be considered by the committee for membership on any work-group that the committee creates.

Please contact the current ICC staff secretariat, LaToya Carraway, lcarraway@iccsafe.org, if you wish to be placed on the "interested party" list and receive information on how to participate in the public committee meetings or join a work group created by the committee.
