Colorado Code Consulting presented Educator of the Year Award
The International Code Council Educator of the Year Award recognizes excellence in promoting educational advancement of the building safety profession. The award — given in memory of Brent Snyder for his contributions to Code Council members to further their educational pursuits, professional development and leadership — is presented to an individual or organization on the recommendation of the Education Committee. Colorado Code Consulting received the 2018 Educator of the Year Award during the Members Luncheon on Oct. 23, 2018, in Richmond.
Colorado Code Consulting believes that consistency and fairness is the key to promoting quality construction throughout the country. They provide expert direction in properly applying codes to building planning and design, ensuring each structure is in compliance with adopted codes. Colorado Code Consulting provides training ranging from multi-day educational events, to specialized in-house training. They are an influential champion of the Code Council mission, “spreading the gospel” throughout the country, helping building departments, design professionals, contractors and others understand the codes and how to use them.
Steve Thomas accepted the award on behalf of Colorado Code Consulting. “Thank you first of all to the committee; this is a great honor and we are very appreciative,” said Thomas. “I want to thank our instructors and the Colorado chapter who started me on this journey many years ago when I first taught a class on roofing. I want to thank ICC and all the chapters that share their knowledge and help spread the gospel. It’s very fulfilling and rewarding to provide education to our members. It really helps when you see someone grasp what it is that we are teaching in a class. It’s very rewarding to receive an award named after Brent Snyder. I can’t tell you what that means to me personally. Brent and I were very good friends and we spent a lot of time together talking. Thank you so much for this award.”
