NCPCCI reciprocity program — expand your reach
The Code Council is pleased to announce that starting October 2019 the Assessment Center will offer a reciprocity program for the National Certification Program for Construction Code Inspectors (NCPCCI). NCPCCI offers several exams that are similar to those that are currently offered by the Code Council. Through the reciprocity program, the Code Council will grant certification to NCPCCI candidates in those comparable exam areas. Exam areas include electrical, mechanical and plumbing. For a full list of comparable exams, visit www.iccsafe.org/ncpcci.
NCPCCI certifications are recognized in the states of Indiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, New Jersey and Oklahoma. The reciprocity program is appealing for NCPCCI candidates because the portability of Code Council certification will help to expand their reach beyond the recognized states. Not only is a Code Council certification widely recognized and accepted it is industry respected and highly credible.
“To ensure our offering is positively received, we sought input and assistance from trusted members and officials in each of the states recognized by NCPCCI,” said Ron Piester, vice president of Membership & Certification at the International Code Council. “We want to ensure the integrity of both highly regarded certifications while encouraging the growth of the building safety community. Growing the industry with highly qualified and skilled individuals will be a win/win for all parties involved.”
Requirements for the program include the completion of an application that can be found online, submitting proof of NCPCCI exam/state licensure or certification, and payment of an application fee. The program offer will begin on Oct. 1, 2019, and will be reviewed annually. For more information about the reciprocity program and to access the application, visit www.iccsafe.org/ncpcci.
