Mass Timber Construction: Fire and Connection Design and Special Inspection (New Mass Timber)

New Mass Timber Construction – Fire and Construction Design and Special Inspection covers changes to the 2021 International Building Code allow for construction of mass timber buildings with larger heights and areas than is currently permitted in Types III, IV, and V construction. This presentation will provide an overview of fire safety provisions including sealants at abutting edges and intersections, fire blocking material, and water supply. New provisions for concealed spaces, membrane structures, and fire districts for existing Type IV Heavy Timber construction will also be discussed.
