Code Council’s Coronavirus response resources featured on Westchester on the Level broadcast

Dottie Mazzarella, vice president of government relations for the International Code Council, chatted with Westchester on the Level radio host Hezi Aris on safety precautions and considerations for businesses preparing to re-open ahead of New York’s phase four for re-occupancy.

As New York enters phase four of its re-opening plans, Mazzarella spoke on how prudent and pertinent it is to remember that even with some businesses beginning to resume activities, until employees and consumers feel safe leaving their homes and interacting in public, there will be no economic recovery. Recognizing and understanding this circumstance, the International Code Council has compiled a guide of safety precautions and considerations for businesses.

Acting as an aggregate information hub, the Code Council’s Coronavirus Response Center offers relevant information for building professionals and potential occupants to understand the impact the pandemic has had on the industry, as well as for companies who are currently creating plans and strategies to move back into their offices.

Mazzarella reviews what the priorities for non-essential companies returning to the office are, how and what businesses must educate office managers and building safety professionals about, and often-overlooked safety tips and precautions for preparing stagnant buildings for reopening ahead of New York’s Phase 4 for re-occupancy. She delves into how building safety organizations are joining together to review building codes and standards to address new social distancing measures for the buildings — whether residential or commercial — of the future. And how companies and building managers can access free resources at the Code Council’s Coronavirus Response Center.
