The Code Council remains committed to spread the word for the need of resilient structures:

  • We released the 2018 Wildland Urban Interface Code and Commentary
  • RESNET/IECC HERS Raters broadened the scope for Rating Field Inspectors to apply for the IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist designation
  • IAS introduced its New Proficiency Testing Provider Accreditation Program and Reference Material Producer Accreditation Program to improve the quality of construction material testing
  • We're leading the Global Resiliency Dialogue, together with partners from Canada, Australia and New Zealand, to further the discussion on the intersection of building science and climate science and develop international resiliency guidelines that will help transition building codes to incorporate forward-looking data that ensures resiliency

ANCR Releases Water Benchmark

The Alliance for National and Community Resilience (ANCR) released the third of its Community Resilience Benchmarks—the water benchmark, which addresses resilience of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems.

Evaluation and Off-site Construction Services Span Worldwide

  • ICC-ES is accredited in Canada and Mexico and continues to expand its scope in both countries
  • ICC-ES offers conformity assessment services in Australia and New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East, either through its partners or directly
  • The Dubai Municipality has recently recognized ICC-ES and NTA in their Provisional List of Outsourced Conformity for conducting sampling, testing, and/or factory surveillance audit under the Factory Assessment Scheme certification
  • NTA conducted its first all-virtual modular plant inspection of a new hotel in Washington, D.C. whose modules were manufactured by Polish company Polcom Group
  • NTA currently provides plan review and factory inspection services for factories in Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Poland and China that are building modules for the U.S. market

We are at the forefront of global collaboration

  • Code Council awarded a Market Development Cooperator Program grant from the US Department of Commerce International Trade Administration to support the publication and implementation of the Gulf Building Codes
  • Teaming with the CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) to provide training on the CARICOM Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code throughout the Caribbean region
  • Leading global building safety dialogues in the Inter-Jurisdictional Regulatory Collaboration Committee, the International Building Quality Centre, and the International Fire Safety Standard Coalition
  • Developing a custom building code for the Republic of Marshall Islands
  • Code Council Family of Solutions continues to expand its reach to customers outside the continental United States, including Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and jurisdictions in every continent around the world
  • IAS held a World Accreditation Day global initiative June 9th featuring four leading experts in the food safety industry
  • Dominic Sims, Chief Executive Officer at the Code Council, was appointed to the IBQC board
  • Judy Zakreski, Vice President of Global Services, was appointed to serve as IRCC Secretariat
  • Beth Tubbs, Senior Staff Engineer, was selected to participate on the IFSS Standards Setting Committee
  • Raj Nathan, IAS President, was elected to the executive committee of the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC)
