Highlights from the International Code Council Board of Directors summer 2021 meeting
The International Code Council Board of Directors held its annual summer meeting from July 15–18, 2021, in Boston, Massachusetts. Present at the meeting were Board President Greg Wheeler, the board’s officers and directors, Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, and Code Council senior staff. During its first in-person meeting in over a year and a half, the board addressed a wide variety of matters, including the following notable items:
Update on NFPA activities
Visiting speaker Chris Dubay, vice president of engineering at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), provided the board with an update on NFPA activities.
Revisions to Code Council Policies
The board approved proposed revisions to Council Policy 26 — Honorary Members, which provided criteria for the Honorary Members Committee to consider when evaluating candidates for Honorary membership, and proposed revisions to Council Policy 28 — Code Development, which were proposed by the Board Committee on the Long-Term Code Development Process and require eligible voters to self-certify an Online Governmental Consensus Process (OGCV) Voter Statement within their MyICC account.
2021 Code Council awards recipients and Honorary Member recommendations
The board approved recommendations from this year’s Awards Committee and Honorary Member Committee. This year’s award recipients will be announced throughout the Code Council’s 2021 Annual Conference, and this year’s recommended Honorary Members will be presented to the voting membership for ratification at the 2021 Annual Business Meeting.
Subsidiary board and committee appointments
The board approved appointments to vacancies on the ICC Evaluation Service Board of Managers and the RESNET 850 Standard Committee. Appointment letters to the appointees are forthcoming.
The next in-person board meeting will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in conjunction with the Code Council’s 2021 Annual Conference. Information on upcoming and previous board meetings can be found here.
