Las Vegas, NV – The International Code Council was recognized as an Industry Champion by the Building Talent Foundation (BTF) during the 2023 NAHB International Builders Show held from January 31 to February 2, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Code Council and BTF began their work together in 2022 to help promote careers in construction and better align education and training for emerging professionals within the building safety industry.

“The Code Council is honored to be recognized by BTF for our commitment to supporting the next generation of building safety professionals,” said Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “We look forward to our continued collaboration as we work together to create a skilled and well-prepared workforce.”

“The trades provide essential services for which there will always be a need, and right now, the need is great,” said Code Council Board of Directors President Michael Wich, CBO. “The Code Council will continue to work alongside BTF to connect talented people with the resources needed to launch and grow their careers in construction.”

Alongside the Code Council, other organizations who were recognized as Industry Champions included Simpson Strong-tie, Kohler, Builders FirstSource, Sherwin-Williams, Daikin, Carrier and Resideo

“Each of these organizations believes in the importance of BTF’s mission and have been excellent allies in executing our strategy,” said Branka Minic, BTF CEO. “The only path to effectively address workforce challenges is with industry-wide support and collaboration. These organizations are models of that collaboration, which is why we are recognizing them today.”

The collaboration between the Code Council and BTF will continue throughout the year with a series of events focused on educating individuals on building safety careers. The events will leverage the Code Council’s Safety 2.0 Program which focuses on empowering and preparing young professionals. To learn more about the Code Council’s Safety 2.0 Program, click here.
