Elevate Your Career: New ICC/IAEI Electrical Inspector Joint Certification Program
To make the certification process more convenient for electrical inspectors, the Code Council and IAEI collaborated to create the Electrical Inspector Joint Certification program.
The electrical industry is continuously advancing as more innovative systems are introduced, requiring a deep understanding of electrical principles and safety protocols for professionals in the field.
In order to make the certification process more convenient for electrical inspectors, the International Code Council and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) collaborated to create the ICC/IAEI Electrical Inspector Joint Certification program.
Combining Industry Expertise to Support the Electrical Industry
The Code Council’s certification program is the oldest, largest and most prestigious credentialing program for construction code administration and enforcement professionals in the United States. The examinations are maintained to the highest standards and include continuous review by committees of experienced professionals.
IAEI’s electrical expertise strengthens the development of these exams to provide a continued standard of competence and proficiency recognized across the industry. IAEI will help lead the exam development committee, ensuring a commitment to excellence behind the exams and certification.
Valarie Evans, MCP, CFM, Building Official for the City of North Las Vegas, stated, “Having originally certified with IAEI as well as being a part of the Code Council’s Southern Nevada Chapter, I was pleased to hear about this collaboration. This is my first year appointed to the electrical exam development committee and I look forward to seeing how IAEI and the Code Council hit the ground running as a cohesive team.”
Joint Certification Program Provides Many Benefits to Industry Professionals
Prior to the creation of the ICC/IAEI Electrical Inspector Joint Certification program, industry professionals had to take three separate programs to get their certification. Now, through the joint effort of these two organizations, electrical professionals can take one program that covers all of the previous material.
Certificate holders from this joint program can expect to receive improved recognition on a national and international level thanks to the notoriety of the Code Council’s certification program. Furthermore, by taking advantage of this certification program, those in the electrical industry can experience increased job opportunities and improved mobility within the building safety industry.
“By combining the expertise and resources from the Code Council and IAEI, we have created a program that sets the standard for excellence,” said Autumn Saylor, Director of the Code Council’s Assessment Center. “The Electrical Inspector Joint Certification program will go a long way in ensuring electrical professionals are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their careers.”
Obtaining Your Electrical Inspector Certification
The ICC/IAEI Electrical Inspector Joint Certification program is offered through the Code Council’s Proctored Remote Online Testing Option (PRONTO) to individuals interested in becoming electrical inspectors, plan reviewers and those currently in the profession looking to advance in their field.
The Code Council’s PRONTO examinations are available 24/7, can be scheduled up to 90 minutes in advance and utilize advanced exam security features. Additionally, individuals can take many of the Code Council’s exams online from any secure location, and real-time results are provided upon test completion.
Code Council and IAEI Collaboration
The Code Council and IAEI introduced their collaboration in 2012 and since then, the two organizations have worked to provide expanded training opportunities, publications, resources and support to their members. Over the years, the organizations have enhanced their offerings by making more resources available through the Code Council’s Digital Codes Premium® platform.
