The U.S. Rural Housing Service Recognizes International Codes’ Resilience Benefits
The Rural Housing Service (RHS), a division of the Rural Development (RD) agency under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has recently announced new incentives within its off-farm labor housing (Off-FLH) loans and grants.
This program’s main aim is to increase the inventory of affordable housing options available to farm laborers, a crucial demographic within rural communities.
To support improved community resilience, the RHS incentivizes applications based on the use of the International Code Council’s International Codes® (I-Codes) to enhance disaster resilience in construction projects.
The I-Codes are a family of fifteen coordinated, modern building safety codes that help ensure the design and construction of safe, sustainable and affordable structures. They impact the lives of nearly 2 billion people globally.
