John (JC) Hudgison is a native of Columbus, Georgia. He advanced his education by attending and graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Architecture & Design, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Troy University. JC is currently the Construction Services Center Manager and Chief Building Official for the City of Tampa, FL. Prior to working for the City of Tampa, John worked for the Columbus Consolidated Government in Columbus GA and John I Rivers Associates as an Architecture Intern.

JC has more than 18 years of experience in the fields of architecture, construction management and building code enforcement. He is proficient in the built environment where he has received his Certified Building Official certification from the International Code Council, and Building Code Administrator through the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, an associate member of the American Institute of Architects and recently obtained his credential for Certified Floodplain Manager.

In his current commitment to building safety, resilience and design, JC is the Past Chair of the ICC Emerging Leaders Membership Council, on the Building Officials Association of Florida Legislative and Code Development Committees and Past Chair of the ICC IECC Residential Energy Code Consensus Committee. JC has also been recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Institute for Building Sciences.

JC was recognized by his alma mater, University Tennessee-Knoxville as a Volunteer 40 under 40 in 2023. The Volunteer 40 Under 40 recognizes forty alumni under the age of 40 who have excelled personally and professionally since completing their degree at UT Knoxville.
