ICC Members Elect 2012-2013 Board Officers, Directors;
Proposed Bylaw Amendment Approved for Mail Ballot

International Code Council Members elected Board Officers and Directors during Tuesday’s Annual Business Meeting at the 2012 Annual Conference in Portland. Ronald E. Piester, AIA, Director of the New York Department of State Division of Code Enforcement and Administration, was elected President. Stephen D. Jones, C.B.O., Construction Official for Millburn Township and the Borough of Florham Park, New Jersey, was elected Vice President. Guy Tomberlin, Code Specialist for the Fairfax County, Virginia, Land Development Services, was elected Secretary/Treasurer.

ICC Board Accepts cdp ACCESS Report;
Will Take Action at December Meeting

During its October 22 meeting in Portland, the Code Council Board of Directors voted to accept the cdp ACCESS Steering Committee’s report for the initiative to increase participation in ICC’s code development process. Code Council Board President William D. Dupler, who also serves as a steering committee member, explained to Annual Conference delegates during yesterday’s cdp ACCESS Forum that the Board will make a final decision on the recommendations at its meeting in December.

Let the Hearings Begin!

ICC Board of Directors President William D. Dupler officially opened the Group A Final Action Hearings yesterday in Portland. “Your participation in code development and your commitment to public safety in the built environment is the reason we are able to build safe communities,” Dupler told delegates. “Your professional dedication matters and that’s why we are so appreciative of your participation here this week.”

ICC Board of Directors President Bill Dupler presided over the Chapter President’s Breakfast Monday morning at the 2012 Annual Conference in Portland.

“Our Chapters are one of our association’s greatest resources and do an outstanding job of providing professional development and networking opportunities,” Dupler said. “Chapters also provide a great deal of support for I-Code adoptions and other important mutual initiatives from Building Safety Month to the Code of Honor Scholarship Program, and increased public awareness of the value of code compliance.”

Dupler announced the Central Florida Chapter of ICC as the recipient of the 2012 Chapter of the Year Award. “The Chapter is known for its leadership on committees, participation in code development hearings both at the state level and at the ICC,” he said. “Even in these tough economic times, the Central Florida Chapter continues to grow dramatically.”
