Three Days Until the 2021 International Code Council Annual Conference & Hearings
The countdown continues as building safety professionals come together to discuss the 2024 I-Codes
Washington, D.C. – The International Code Council is set to host its Annual Conference and Public Comment Hearings at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA, from September 19 – 26. The event brings together professionals from across the building safety sector and will include presentations on some of today’s hottest topics, networking opportunities with experts from every aspect of the industry and continuing education units (CEUs). Presentations will highlight the ongoing challenges facing the industry and include topics such as remote work, digital transformation and leadership.
Given the pandemic and immense changes in the workplace, the theme for this year’s conference is centered around resiliency. Keynotes, events and discussions will focus on a building safety workforce that has emerged stronger and more adaptable in the wake of significant disruption to traditional methods of working. Resources will also be provided, including digital tools that building safety professionals can use to help maintain safe and sustainable buildings and communities.
“As we approach the start of our conference and hearings, we’re excited to bring together some of the brightest minds in our field to work towards our common goal of improving safety, sustainability and affordability through building codes and standards,” said Dominic Sims, CBO, CEO, International Code Council. “The events of the past year and a half have put the importance of our industry’s work squarely in the spotlight. As a result, this year’s conference is designed to give attendees the knowledge and resources they need to successfully face today and tomorrow’s challenges.”
This year’s event has been revamped with new activities and opportunities added to the program in order to create the best experience for guests. With an emphasis on building strong relationships across sectors for greater collaboration, the Safety 2.0 Networking Happy Hour and the Connections Gala will allow participants to establish connections with new contacts in their field. Additionally, continued learning is an important aspect of the conference with CEUs available and special events such as the Empowering Leaders Luncheon & Panel Discussion.
After the conference, from September 21 – 26, the Code Council will open their Public Comment Hearings which provide delegates and attendees with an opportunity to directly impact the 2024 edition of the I-Codes. During these hearings, government member voting representatives will vote on all the proposed rule changes. While in-person activities will be taking place this year, there will also be a live webcast available for those who wish to view it remotely.
