Code Council Seeks Nominations for Awards
Safe communities don’t happen by chance. Safe communities are the result of dedicated professionals who use codes and standards, science, and years of experience and learning to ensure public safety in the buildings where people live, work, learn and play. If you know an exemplary individual or group whose contributions to building safety, code enforcement, public service, community service or fire prevention are commendable, nominate them for an International Code Council award.
Nominations will be accepted until July 25 for awards to be presented at the 2012 ICC Annual Conference, Oct. 21-24, in Portland, Ore. The awards will be presented at a luncheon on Oct. 24, and honor individuals and organizations for accomplishments and service to the Code Council and the building safety industry.
The Bobby J. Fowler Award is named in honor of the first chairman of the ICC Board of Directors and visionary for the consolidation of the model code industry. Jones Code Official of the Year Award is granted to an individual whose contribution to the code enforcement profession is meritorious based on demonstrated professional abilities; is recognizable as an example for all members of the code enforcement profession; and has furthered the cause of safety in the built environment within a jurisdiction, state or the country.
The ICC Affiliate Award is presented to a building industry professional who consistently demonstrates the qualities of integrity, professionalism and dedication through service to the profession and whose personal standards represent the spirit of public service to the development of codes and standards in the interest of public safety.
