Code Council supports PHCC commitment to creating new avenues to enhance the growth and success of the PMG and HVAC industry workforce

The International Code Council is a world leader in building safety solutions for plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas and swimming pool professionals. We provide technical resources, product certification training and more, and our team of experts consists of experienced and knowledgeable staff from a wide range of backgrounds and industries. The Code Council’s Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas and Swimming Pool Codes (PMG) programs group is devoted exclusively to providing PMG products and support to jurisdictions and construction industry professionals across the country and around the globe.

While technology can do a lot of things today, it still can’t install a furnace or run pipe. Training the workforce of the future is our industry’s challenge and with help from the Invest in Your Future Annual Giving Campaign by the Educational Foundation of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association (PHCC), our industry is facing that challenge head-on. In its continuing dedication to supporting the PMG community, the Code Council contributed matching funds to the annual giving campaign, which will help provide the training programs, scholarships and resources for both the contractors of today and the future workforce of tomorrow.

“Being able to partner with PHCC and to contribute to its ‘Invest In Your Future’ campaign is one way the Code Council reinforces its commitment to industry education and development,” said Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “We are pleased to enhance our commitment to PHCC and provide even more resources for plumbers and other professional contractors who do one of the most important jobs in our nation — ensuring our homes are safe and working properly.”

Support from industry leaders for the Invest in Your Future Campaign has helped the PHCC Educational Foundation to set a fundraising goal in 2021 of $185,000. Last year, $112,000 was awarded to the foundation’s 55 scholarship winners. Each year, the campaign raises funds that allow the foundation to continue to provide innovative educational programming and professional career training to enhance the growth and success of the plumbing and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry workforce — at every stage of their career. Established in 1986, the PHCC Educational Foundation is a partnership of contractors, manufacturers and wholesalers to serve the plumbing-heating-cooling industry by preparing contractors and their employees to meet the challenges of a constantly changing marketplace. Leading the promotion, advancement, education and training of the plumbing and HVACR industry since 1883, PHCC members work in the residential, commercial, new construction, industrial, and service and repair segments of the construction industry. The PHCC named the Code Council a corporate partner in 2018, and through this alliance, PHCC members have increased access to the International Codes and training. The PHCC logo also appears on the Code Council’s PMG publications, indicating PHCC’s support through committee participation of the Code Council’s open governmental consensus process used to develop the International Codes.
