ICC-SRCC releases expanded OG-300 ratings covering all of North America
The Solar Rating & Certification Council (ICC-SRCC) announced the latest update to the OG-300 rating system for solar water heating systems. The widely used OG-300 ratings have been updated and expanded to provide performance ratings for locations throughout North America by adding locations in Canada, Hawaii, Central America and the Caribbean.
The SRCC OG-300 certification program provides both compliance assessment to the ICC 900/SRCC 300 standard and independent, consistent performance ratings for solar water heating systems. The ICC 900/SRCC 300 standard is referenced in building codes throughout North America, and OG-300 certification is a critical tool to demonstrate compliance with these codes. It addresses key safety and durability issues and is correlated with the International Building and Residential Codes. Additionally, the OG-300 program provides system performance ratings at standard OG-300 conditions. And because solar resources and weather impact solar water heater performance, OG-300 provides performance ratings at dozens of locations throughout North America. By providing ratings for systems under the same conditions, OG-300 allows consumers to directly compare the performance of different systems.
“The latest update to the OG-300 program positions it for the future,” said SRCC Vice President of Technical Services Shawn Martin. “We’re pleased to now be providing performance ratings for Canada, Central America and the Caribbean. SRCC’s certifications have long been used in these regions, and we’re proud to be providing better support for manufacturers and their clients there.”
The updated certifications were launched with an updated, refreshed format at the beginning of August for all OG-300 certifications.SRCC’s OG-300 certifications and more information on the OG-300 program can be found at the SRCC website, www.solar-rating.org.
