On Jan. 31, 2023, the Building Talent Foundation (BTF) recognized the International Code Council as a 2022 Industry Champion during the 2023 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas. BTF honored organizations who have gone above and beyond in their commitment and contribution towards building a sustainable workforce in residential construction.
Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO, was on hand to receive a commemorative plaque from Branka Minic, the Chief Executive Officer of BTF.
“The Code Council is honored to be recognized by BTF for our commitment to supporting the next generation of building safety professionals,” said Sims. “We look forward to our continued collaboration as we work together to create a skilled and well-prepared workforce.”
Other organizations recognized as 2022 Industry Champions included Simpson Strong-Tie, Kohler, Builders FirstSource, Sherwin-Williams, Daikin, Carrier and Resideo.
“Each of these organizations believes in the importance of BTF’s mission and have been excellent allies in executing our strategy,” said Minic. “The only path to effectively address workforce challenges is with industry-wide support and collaboration. These organizations are models of that collaboration, which is why we are recognizing them today.”

Dedicated to Creating a Sustainable Building Safety Workforce
In 2022, the Code Council and BTF announced their collaboration to support and strengthen the residential construction and building safety workforce. Since then, the two organizations have partnered to promote careers in construction and better align education and training for emerging professionals.
This year, the Code Council and BTF will be hosting a series of events around the United States to encourage Code Council Chapter Leaders to serve as ambassadors and help in delivering the Code Council’s Safety 2.0 Programs to young professionals.
BTF will also deliver a presentation on workforce development at the Code Council Chapter Leadership Academy in April. Minic will be the featured speaker, reinforcing BTF’s continued commitment to its partnership with the Code Council at the highest level.
