International Code Council’s Judy Zakreski Appointed to Serve on Industry Trade Advisory Committee
The Industry Trade Advisory Committees play a crucial role in shaping U.S. trade policy and promoting economic growth.
Judy Zakreski, International Code Council Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Solutions, was recently appointed to serve on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Standards and Technical Trade Barriers (ITAC 15).
Committee members are appointed jointly by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to provide valuable expertise and advice to the U.S. government on international trade matters. On ITAC 15, Zakreski will represent the viewpoint of the International Code Council and its members in the U.S. building standards industry.
Zakreski’s expertise in global affairs and international trade policy, coupled with her knowledge of codes, standards and conformity assessment tools used in the building and construction industry, are valuable assets that will support the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the United States Trade Representative in developing trade policy and pursuing trade agreements that benefit U.S. businesses, workers and the economy as a whole.
“I am honored to receive this appointment to serve on the ITAC and provide private sector input from our industry to the Administration as they develop trade policy and pursue trade agreements,” said Zakreski, who also serves as the vice chair of the Virginia-DC District Export Council.
“I’m passionate about trade policy and the nuanced role that standards and conformity assessment can play in leveling the playing field. Opening new markets to U.S. exporters of goods and services is complex but critical. It is a privilege to be another voice at the table to elevate this dialogue along with the other distinguished members of ITAC 15.”
