Project Qatar seminars focus on key environmental technology topics

Project Qatar 2017, an international trade exhibition for construction and environmental technology, building materials, and equipment featured key topics on various construction concerns in the Gulf Cooperation Council. Running from May 8-11 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, Project Qatar 2017 showcases products and services of 516 exhibitors from 33 participating countries.

International Code Council Executive Vice President of Business Development Mark Johnson presented “Cooperating to Advance Construction Codes in the Gulf Region” on the first day. International Code Council Executive Director for Sustainability Programs Dave Walls presented “Overview of the International Green Construction Code” on the second day.

“Qatar’s construction sector is keen to address the pertinent issues that affect the sector to ensure that the country adopts global best practices and sustainability trends,” said IFP Qatar General manager George Ayache. “The series of workshops were carefully chosen to help contribute in knowledge growth in the sector and translate into efficient use of resources. Qatar’s ambition to be among the leading countries in the world when it comes to infrastructure growth demands that construction is of high quality and on par with international standards. We are confident the workshops fully cover these key concerns.”

Project Qatar connects to ICC’s ongoing Market Development Cooperator Program with ASTM International and the U.S. Department of Commerce, which establishes collaborative partnerships that advance foreign market development, resulting in increased trade with the United States.
