The most widely used building codes in the world now available in Spanish
The International Code Council is expanding its suite of building safety products to better serve Spanish-speaking populations
Washington, D.C. – The International Code Council released Spanish language versions of the 2018 editions of the International Building Code, the International Mechanical Code, the International Plumbing Code and the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. The International Residential Code, the International Property Maintenance Code, the International Energy Conservation Code and the International Fuel Gas Code will be available in Spanish by the end of 2019.
Adopted throughout the U.S. and used around the world, the International Codes are a comprehensive, coordinated family of building safety codes previously only available in English. The new Spanish-language codes are part of the Code Council’s strategy to expand its suite of products and services to better serve its global and non-English based users. Later this month the Code Council will open its first overseas office and launch its public website in Spanish and Arabic.
“The publication of these codes in Spanish is a major step forward in making the codes more accessible to a larger audience,” said Code Council Executive Vice President and Director of Business Development Mark Johnson. “The Code Council will continue to expand its offerings in different languages and formats in order address the needs of the global community.”
The published Spanish codes are accessible for free viewing on the Code Council’s online building codes website or for purchase at https://shop.iccsafe.org/. To learn more about the Code Council’s global strategy, click here.
