This scholarship is a key benefit of Code Council membership as it provides individuals the opportunity to actively participate in the development of building codes through the CAH.
The Code of Honor Scholarship from the International Code Council offers Governmental Member Voting Representatives funding to attend the Code Council’s 2025 Committee Action Hearings (CAH) and participate in the Public Comment Hearings.
This scholarship is a key benefit of Code Council membership as it provides individuals the opportunity to actively participate in the development of building codes through the CAH.
This involvement is essential to the code development process, ensuring that everyone has a voice in shaping regulations that protect the health, safety and welfare of people by creating safe buildings and communities.
The application period for the 2025 Committee Action Hearings (Group B #1) which will be held from April 26-May 6 in Orlando, Florida, is now open. The application deadline is February 21, 2025.
Scholarship Categories
Applicants may apply for more than one type of Code of Honor scholarship in any given cycle; however, only one scholarship per year will be awarded to each award winner.
Scholarships providing up to $2,000 reimbursement:
- Architect Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who are licensed architects (financial support by the AIA).
- Emerging Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who have served their jurisdiction between four and nine years.
- Future Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who are new to the profession, serving less than four years.
- International Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who reside outside of the United States.
- Small Town Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives whose city or county population is 50,000 or less.
- Veteran Leaders – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who have served their jurisdiction for 10 years or more. Membership in the Legacy organizations will be counted toward years served.
Scholarships providing up to $1,000 reimbursement
- Match Scholarship – Governmental Member Voting Representatives who have a 50% financial match from their Code Council Chapter, Jurisdiction or personal.
