Participating in these committees will help shape the development of the I-Codes to ensure safe, affordable and sustainable communities and buildings worldwide.
The Code Council is currently seeking volunteers for 2024-2026 Cycle Committees to help support the development of the 2027 International Codes (I-Codes).
The 2024-2026 Code Development Schedule is available here.
Building codes and standards are developed to address building industry challenges as they relate to compliance with the Code Council’s I-Codes. Participating in these committees will help shape the development of these codes to ensure safe, affordable and sustainable communities and buildings worldwide.
Code Development Committee (CDCs)
Code Development Committees are an instrumental part of the Code Council’s code development process. There are currently 15 Code Committees, responsible for the review and evaluation of code change proposals submitted to the 2024 I-Codes.
The codes will be grouped into two cycles: Group A codes will be processed in 2024, and Group B will be processed in 2025.
The code change development process was recently revised to improve the quality of code content by fostering a more in-depth vetting of code change proposals. The changes will take effect in 2024-2026 for the development of the 2027 I-Codes. The new process will include two Committee Action Hearings, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, and will have the same Code Development Committee presiding over both hearings.
The Code Council is receiving applications for Group A and Group B Code Committees. All current code committee members must re-apply to be considered for re-appointment.
The deadline is June 1, 2023, you can apply for the committee here.
If you have any questions, please contact Russ Manning, Senior Vice President of Technical Services.
Code Interpretation Committee (CICs)
Code Council Interpretation Committees are a great place to get started if you are new to the code development process and want to increase your working knowledge of the code process as it relates to the built environment and real-world implementation considerations.
The purpose of Interpretation Committees is to provide technical support for adopting jurisdictions by processing official interpretations for the I-Codes. Committee Interpretations represent the official position of the Code Council. In all cases, the final authority on matters of interpretation is the code official. There are currently five International Code Council Interpretation Committees.
The Code Council is accepting applications for new members. Previous Interpretations Committee members must reapply to be considered for re-appointment.
The deadline is June 1, 2023, you can apply for the committee here.
If you have any questions, please contact Chris Reeves, Director, Architectural and Engineering Services.
Code Correlation Committee (CCC)
The Code Council’s Code Correlation Committee is responsible for evaluating matters of consistency, coordination and format in the I-Codes. This includes determining matters of maintenance responsibility (scoping) of the Code Committees, identification of editorial revisions necessary in the I-Codes and correlation of technical provisions based on the actions taken at the Public Comment Hearing followed by the Online Governmental Consensus Vote.
The Code Council is accepting applications for members. The composition of the CCC is limited to the International Code Council Governmental Member Voting Representatives. 2024-2026 Code Correlation Committee members who are International Code Council Governmental Member Voting Representatives must reapply to be considered for re-appointment.
The deadline is June 1, 2023, you can apply for the committee here.
