Call for Committee: Acoustics of the Built Environment Consensus Committee
Once appointed, this committee will have primary responsibility for the development of minimum requirements and standards through the new ASC/ICC A118 -202X entitled Acoustics of the Built Environment.
The International Code Council is currently seeking manufacturers, builders, code officials, design professionals, government regulators, consumers and other industry stakeholders to volunteer for the Acoustics of the Built Environment Consensus Committee (IS-ABEC).
The Code Council, an ANSI and SCC accredited standard developing organization, is collaborating with Accessibility Standards Canada to create a new accessibility standard. This standard will focus on various aspects of acoustic design in the built environment, including wayfinding, noise control, design for spaces with special acoustic considerations, and more.
Once appointed, this committee will have primary responsibility for the development of minimum requirements and standards through the new ASC/ICC A118 -202X entitled Acoustics of the Built Environment.
This standard will aim to ensure public health, safety, and general welfare, addressing societal and industry challenges related to site design, the built environment and architectural features. The focus is on the acoustics of buildings and their impact on the use of public and residential structures by individuals with physical and sensory disabilities.
