CISA releases guidance on essential critical infrastructure workers during COVID-19
On March 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released an initial list of “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers” to help inform community decision-making to determine critical functions that should continue normal operations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of interest to Code Council members and stakeholders, the list identifies:
- Workers who ensure the continuity of building functions.
- Workers who support the operation, inspection and maintenance of essential public works facilities and operations.
- Service providers necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation and essential operation of residences.
- Workers and managers in the construction trades — including plumbers, electricians and other members — who support the construction and maintenance of critical or strategic infrastructure.
