FEMA’s FY2024 BRIC Funding Available to Strengthen Building Resilience
The International Code Council encourages jurisdictions to apply for this funding to strengthen their communities and is available for assistance in accessing these funds.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now accepting applications for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program.
This program, now in its fifth year, allocates funding for building code adoption and implementation to enhance community resilience against natural disasters. FEMA has allocated up to $2 million per state and territory, and up to $25 million for tribal governments, in dedicated funding to support these resilient code initiatives.
Eligible projects include:
- Adoption and enforcement of hazard-resistant building codes
- Training for code officials, including the Code Council’s When Disaster Strikes program
- Digital code enforcement tools
The International Code Council encourages jurisdictions to apply for this funding to strengthen their communities and is available for assistance in accessing these funds. Last year, the Code Council helped 50 applicants from 27 states secure $29 million in BRIC funding. In total, FEMA approved more than 130 applications to support code activities worth nearly $55 million across 42 states and territories.
