The Code Council’s Board of Directors has a pivotal role in leading the organization toward a sustainable future while remaining aligned with the overarching mission of promoting building safety.
The Board is made up of 18 volunteer members who set the overall strategic direction for the Code Council and its programs. In addition to financial, legal and ethical oversight, the Board is responsible for hiring and evaluating the CEO and ensuring the availability of sufficient resources to fulfill the organization’s mission and purpose.
Serving on the Code Council Board of Directors
Serving on the Code Council Board of Directors is a great opportunity for individuals with a passion for organizational leadership. Prospective Board members are expected to have a proven track record of active participation in the Code Council and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.
The Board is made up of four officer seats, eight at large seats and six sectional seats. To serve within a sectional seat, a board member must reside in a state within that given section, and only two board members from the same state can serve simultaneously. Potential Board candidates are required to be a Governmental Member Voting Representative, as defined in the Code Council’s Bylaws.
The Board typically conducts in-person meetings four times a year in various locations. Individual board members are expected to consistently participate in chapter meetings, industry events and other Code Council activities throughout the year. This engagement helps foster a collaborative and informed Board that actively contributes to the organization’s ongoing success.
