ICC Learn Live to highlight the latest topics in building safety

This November, the International Code Council is launching ICC Learn Live, a week-long virtual training and education event that will cover the latest topics in building safety — from the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the building industry to remote virtual inspections and the 2021 International Codes. This innovative event will be held from Nov. 9–13, 2020.

2021 IBC Highlight of Structural Changes

A general review of the most critical changes in the 2021 International Building Code structural chapters, including special inspection and structural observation provisions. This 60-minute session highlights a select number of new or revised sections and their implications on the design, plan review and inspection of buildings and structures, including information on referenced standards that have been updated to a new edition.

Best Practices for Building Departments

This presentation will cover the best practices for building departments of all sizes. Best practices have been defined as “professional procedures that are accepted or prescribed as being correct or most effective.” This short course will focus on recognized best practices (as well as noteworthy practices currently being tested) in specific areas of plan review, inspections, permitting, management/administration, legal, customer service and information technology. These best practices have been collected by the Code Council’s Major Jurisdictions Committee and International Accreditation Service Building Department Accreditation Program.
