Jerica Stacey Nominated for Leadership in Energy Efficiency Award as Part of the Idaho Energy Code Collaborative
Award strives to enhance collaboration and innovation within the Northwest by recognizing individuals and teams for their exemplary dedication, enthusiasm and performance in furthering energy efficiency.
International Code Council staff member Jerica Stacey, Energy Code Specialist, Product Development, was nominated for a 2023 Leadership in Energy Efficiency Award in the category of Innovative Collaboration as part of the Idaho Energy Code Collaborative.
The Leadership in Energy Efficiency awards are presented annually by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEAA), an organization that works on behalf of consumers to increase the adoption of energy-efficient products, services and practices. The awards strive to enhance collaboration and innovation within the Northwest by recognizing individuals and teams for their exemplary dedication, enthusiasm and performance in furthering energy efficiency across the region and beyond.
The awards encompass the following categories:
- The Leadership in Energy Efficiency Rising Star Award – Recognizes an emerging leader in energy efficiency whose record reflects ongoing and exceptional growth in contribution to the industry.
- The Leadership in Energy Efficiency Award for Innovative Collaboration – Recognizes outstanding achievement by individuals, groups and/or organizations in creating, using or promoting innovative solutions to collaborate that help the region achieve more energy efficiency.
- The Tom Eckman Lifetime Achievement in Energy Efficiency Award – Recognizes the outstanding achievement of an individual whose career has greatly contributed to energy efficiency in the Northwest.
- The Chairperson’s Award – Recognizes individual dedication and effective, long-term commitment to advancing energy efficiency.
The 2023 award winners and nominees were recognized on December 4, 2023, during a hybrid ceremony hosted by NEAA.
“It was an honor for our work in Idaho to be recognized,” Stacey said regarding her nomination. “We are proud of our accomplishments and knowing that Idahoans will continue to benefit from the energy code.”
The nomination summarized how Idaho Energy Code Collaborative members engaged with local stakeholders to discuss and document the health, safety and economic benefits of energy codes, adding that “through close coordination, creative problem solving, and data and analysis, the collaborative succeeded in helping preserve the energy code in Idaho.”
The Idaho Energy Code Collaborative
The Idaho Energy Code Collaborative is made up of energy professionals, nonprofit organizations, utility representatives, government agencies and knowledgeable citizens who convene regularly to exchange ideas, track current energy issues and hear presentations from key stakeholders in energy-related fields.
This group has met for many years to coordinate on helping the building industry successfully meet energy codes, including coordinating and providing training across the state and advocating for energy code adoption.
The mission of the Idaho Energy Code Collaborative is to:
- Facilitate energy code implementation through education, outreach, and technical assistance
- Prepare for new energy codes by analyzing changes, engaging stakeholders for input and delivering industry-vetted (not necessarily consensual) proposals to the Idaho Building Code Board
- Provide resources to the residential and commercial energy code industry, which includes contractors, trades, designers, developers, and code jurisdictions to facilitate a greater understanding of and compliance with energy codes
