Tim Ryan, CBO retiring
After almost 40 years working with the City of Overland Park, Kansas, James “Tim” T. Ryan will retire as Code Administrator on December 22, 2017. Tim has dedicated much of his career to his work in Overland Park and has helped guide the city through substantial growth.
Tim served on the ICC Board of Directors from 1999-2009. Throughout his career, he has served on many ICC Committees and has been an active participant in the code development process.
In Kansas, Tim has served on the Overland Park Residential Construction Task Force, the State of Kansas Steering Committee on Codes and the State of Kansas task Force on Residential Construction. He also chaired a Steering Committee for the State of Kansas tasked with creating a program to oversee the energy code provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Although he is retiring from his current code administrator position, Tim plans to remain involved in the industry. “I believe that it has come time to pursue other career paths that will focus on promoting the development and adoption of codes, enforcement of codes at all levels, and most importantly, providing code officials with the necessary skills and tools to do their jobs.”
Tim also plans to remain an active ICC member and continue to participate: as a moderator; serving on committees; participating in the code development hearings; and serving as an instructor.
ICC congratulates Tim for his many years of service and commitment to the building safety industry and looks forward to his continued support in the future.
