Rocco Davis receives 2021 Meritorious Service Award for contribution to the development of ICC codes and standards
Each year, the International Code Council recognizes peers and colleagues who are a reflection of what the association stands for: dedication to developing model codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process to construct safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. The Code Council honored several outstanding individuals and organizations for their accomplishments and contributions to building safety and resiliency in their communities during the 2021 Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The ICC Meritorious Service Award — given in honor of Walker S. Lee and A.J. Jack Lund — is granted to an individual who has given unselfishly of time and talent in furthering the development of Code Council codes and standards. Jon “Rocco” Davis, vice president and special assistant to the general president of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA), received the 2021 ICC Meritorious Service Award during a special presentation on Oct. 19, 2021, at the Code Council’s Western Regional Office in Brea, California.

He has served LiUNA as chief of staff, as special assistant to the general president, and he serves on several boards of the union, including pension funds, health and welfare funds, training and education funds, contract education and training, and many more.
In 2020, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association and he was appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to the California Transportation Commission, which is responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highways, passenger rail, transit and active transportation improvements throughout the state.
