News - Committee Work Concluded
FINAL REPORT OF THE AH BSS Committee: The Ad Hoc Committee on Building Safety and Security (AH BSS) has concluded its work. The Code Council Board thanks the committee for their hard work and perseverance working through the pandemic and has sun set the committee. Click here for the Final Report.
The International Code Council Board of Directors established an ad hoc committee to comprehensively explore and assess building safety and security. Building safety is an issue of upmost importance to our families and communities as we tackle outdated facilities, fire safety concerns, active shooters and other emergency situations. The design, layout and building features in new and existing buildings can have an impact on both safety and security. Safety and security touches a myriad of code regulations as well as considerations which go beyond compliance. To read the press release, click here.

This will be a multi-year effort. Three – four meetings are planned each year. The in-person meetings will be supported by committee and Work Group conference calls (once Work Groups are created).
