Evaluation Service  Reports

With over 90 years of experience in evaluating the performance and suitability of building products, ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) is an industry leader and the most widely accepted evaluation agency in the US.

ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are Accepted Globally

International Scope

Evaluation Service Reports (ESRs) are widely accepted internationally, including in North, Central and South America, parts of the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. These reports can be used to demonstrate compliance with building codes and standards, particularly where prescriptive standards do not exist for new and innovative products. The products that receive ESRs are evaluated for compliance with Acceptance Criteria, a normative document that is developed by ICC-ES’ technical experts and reviewed and approved by an independent panel of building regulators in the United States.

Australia and New Zealand

In order to specifically address the need for robust assessment of innovative building products and systems in Oceania, ICC-ES can now expand upon the ESR process to incorporate an additional review to requirements of the Building Code of Australia (Volumes One and Two of the National Construction Code) and the New Zealand Building Code. In Australia and New Zealand, these Evaluation Service Reports (ESRs) can be presented to building surveyors to provide evidence of suitability.

The product evaluation schemes used to produce ESRs have been independently accredited by American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

How ICC-ES Can Help

Building Regulators

If you are a building regulator, ICC-ES can tell you about products, systems, materials and methods that are code compliant. For more information about the rigor of our system, request to download and review our e-book.

Manufacturers

If you are a manufacturer, a report from ICC-ES will make it easier to market your building-related product, because you have solid evidence that your product meets code requirements. The report on your product is available for those involved in specifying products to review, as well as other construction industry professionals, free of charge, online.

Designers

If you are a designer, architect, builder or specifier and you want evidence for the local building official that you are using code-complying products, look for an Evaluation Service Appraisal report! You may also have an innovative design for which no Deemed to Satisfy or Acceptable Solution exists. The International Codes (I-Codes), used by jurisdictions throughout the United States and around the world, may offer off-the-shelf technical content for which ICC-ES can provide an expert opinion for use in a Performance or Alternative Solution.

General Public

If you are a member of the general public, you too, benefit from the work of ICC-ES because ICC-ES actively promotes public safety in the built environment. Additionally, you can use ESRs to help in selection of building products for your own home or other property.
