The International Code Council Joins Delegation to Israel to Discuss Water Conservation Policies and Research
This delegation will increase U.S.-Israel practical collaboration on water reuse policies and scientific research, methods and policies.
The International Code Council will join the WateReuse Association’s delegation to Israel from October 29 to November 4 to support furthering sustainability, security, and resilience of the United States’ water resources through sharing knowledge and information on policies, practices and technologies. The Code Council’s PMG Executive Director Matt Sigler and Board Director Mike Boso will attend along with nearly 50 federal, state and local officials working on water issues in the United States. This delegation will increase U.S.-Israel practical collaboration on water reuse policies and scientific research, methods and policies.
WateReuse will be co-hosting this delegation alongside several organizations including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Government of Israel. The Code Council will be one of the few standard development organizations from the built environment to attend.
“The Code Council looks forward to learning more about Israel’s policies, practices and technologies for its water resources and conservation,” said Matt Sigler, International Code Council PMG Executive Director. “This is also an opportunity to invite global participation in the Code Council’s PMG standards development. We are looking to build standards from the ground up, and that requires global cooperation.”
Safeguarding our water supply through modern building codes and standards is just one part of our larger mission at the Code Council. The Code Council has established a Water Reuse Working Group to support advancement of best practices for reuse in building codes; the evolution of public opinion on reusing treated wastewater; and how the U.S. can improve its ranking among world leaders in effective reuse of treated wastewater. You can learn more about the working group by contacting either Rich Anderson, PMG Technical Resources (randerson@iccsafe.org) or Kevin McOsker, Vice President of Technical Services, Government Relations (kmcosker@iccsafe.org).
