Kentucky Derby Museum and Hermitage Farm Tour with lunch

No trip to Louisville would be complete without a tour of Churchill Downs, the “Home of the Kentucky Derby”. At the Kentucky Derby Museum, you will experience all the sights and sounds of the Kentucky Derby as you watch the 360 Degree panoramic presentation. “The Greatest Race”. On the outside track tour, you will hear the facts and folklore that make the Kentucky Derby the greatest two minutes in sports.

Enjoy a unique experience with the Kentucky Derby Museum’s team of curators as they take you though an up close and personal journey through Thoroughbred racing history using rare artifacts not currently on display to the general public. Hear the sorties and history behind each item and have the opportunity to ask your questions.

Lunch will be served at the Derby Café.

After lunch, you will visit Hermitage Farm, which is a 19th century estate which has been reimagined through 21st century eyes. The nearly 700 acres have been placed in a conservation easement so that it remains active farmland in perpetuity. Along with sustainable, organic agricultural practices, Hermitage Farm has a renowned thoroughbred operation. During the tour you will experience the inner workings of a fully operational thoroughbred horse farm and the farm’s history in the equine industry. You will see historic and competition carriages on display and meet the highly trained horses who pull them in competition. Please note the tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking.
